Collection (02-241) (9100 items, 16.50 lin. ft; dated 1932-1996 and n.d.) documents the life and advertising/writing career of Walter Weir. It consists primarily of professional and family correspondence (1932-1994); copies of Weir's writings and publications (including articles, stories, speeches, musical scores, poems, and books, 1932-1978 and n.d.); and files on advertising and marketing ([1960s]-1992). Also includes personal business files and financial information; as well as information files from college courses Weir taught. There is also a small body of files that record part of son Tony Weir's career, especially with Ogilvy & Mather. In addition, there are 19 audiocassettes and 6 reel-to-reel tapes of voiceovers, addresses, and jingles; 28 black-and-white photographs; one black-and-white negative; 6 color photographs; 25 color negatives; one color slide; and miscellaneous small items. Acquired as part of the John W. Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising & Marketing History.
